PATEK PHILIPPE

NAUTILUS, REF 3800/1
STAINLESS STEEL WRISTWATCH WITH DATE AND BRACELET
MADE IN 1987

Dial: black-blue
Caliber: cal. 335SC automatic, 29 jewels
Movement number: 1'425'520
Case: stainless steel Nautilus
Case number: 2'831'891
Closure: stainless steel Patek Philippe bracelet and folding clasp
Dimensions: 35 mm, bracelet circumference approx. 180 mm
Signed: case, dial and movement
Accessories: Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming date of sale on March 3rd, 1987

The three quarter size Nautilus was produced between 1981 and 2006. Collectors have acknowledged 4 different iterations over the course of its life. The present example bears the caliber 335SC with the "quick change" functionality, essentially a direct crown setting allowing to set the date in instant jumps, attributing it to the second generation for this reference, produced between 1987 and 1992.

The stainless steel case was manufactured by Favre-Perret and the dials by Stern Créations. The slightly more conservative case size ensures this timepiece perfectly fits a wrist which would not necessarily accommodate the larger, Jumbo size.

Condition Report:
MVT: running at the time of cataloguing. Date is advancing.
CASE: in good condition. Sharp edges and good proportions with some signs of wear visible to the naked eye. Bracelet loose.
DIAL: with some light wear visible under certain light. Wear to the edge of the dial, but concealed by the case.

Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of time and may need a service at the buyer's expense. Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts.

You are advised that watch straps or bands made of materials derived from endangered or otherwise protected species (i.e. alligator or crocodile) are not sold with the watch and we reserve the right to remove these straps or bands prior to shipping. Furthermore, the watch may not come with its original manufacturers strap or band.

Prospective bidders should review the Conditions of Business, Authenticity Guarantee, the Guide for Prospective Buyers, and any Important Notice in the sale catalogue.

Please note: Condition 16 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable for this lot.
