PATTERN-MOLDED AND PRESSED WHALE OIL STAND LAMP, colorless, conical font with 12 pattern-molded flutes, raised on a hollow globular-knop stem and a complex three-step square base featuring protruding tapered columns on the corners and square feet, interior with a rosette-form prism pattern in apex, two large bladed wafers. Fitted with a period tin double-tube drop-in burner lacking cork. Probably New England. 1830-1840.
Condition: Excellent condition overall with expected roughness and a couple of chips to the underside of the base, probably as made, some scattered scratching to the interior of the font.
Size: 10 1/2" H to top of mouth, 3 5/8" SQ base.
