Cal. 45-70. NSN. Bbl. 33". Blade front sight. Ladder rear sight graduated to 1300yds. Rear sight ladder is floppy & may require attention to tighten. Peabody military rifle that appears to be a Connecticut or similar state militia contract but has no state markings. Walnut stock set with bottom mounted sling swivels. Rear band appears crudely modified for sling swivel. Circular plaque on top of stock with number "18". Ramrod present. CONDITION: refinished stock set shows scattered dings & handling marks. Metal has a smoky gray appearance likely from old faded touch up, with dings, oxidation & handling wear. Action functions properly when hand cycled. Very good bore with strong rifling & some light pitting. (01-30280/MJC). ANTIQUE. $2000-3000.
