A technical and analytical study of the work carried out by the company I & R (Madrid, January 26, 2015) is made for this lot.
This San Miguel archangel submitting to the devil is the only known autograph work of the Toledo painter Pedro Delgado. The signature is in the cartouche located in the lower left margin of the table that also shows the date of its realization in Latin characters "ANO X", that is, the tenth year of the sixteenth century (1510).
Provenance:
- Collection of Mr. Gonzalo Ulloa and Ortega-Montañés, VIII count of Adanero (1833-1882).
- Collection of Mr. José María Ulloa and Ortega-Montañés, VIII Marquis de Castro Serna and documented in the posthumous inventory of his property in 1906 at entry 1246.
- Private collection, Madrid, h. 1970
