The case surmounted by a large beehive with bees flying in and out of the hive over the main body of the case decorated with floral and ivy relief on a canted antico marble base on bun feet, the 9.5cm signed white enamel Roman dial with smaller Arabic numerals in a central ring depicting the date with gilt fancy hands, the twin barrel movement with silk suspension and suspension adjustment screw, with outside countwheel striking the hours and half hours on a bell. Currently running and striking. Together with a silk suspension pendulum. 36cms high
Napoleon chose the bee as his imperial emblem which was embroidered in gold on his coronation robe of 1805.
