PERSIAN HAMADAN AND PERSIAN SENNEH ANTIQUE RUGS

1. An unusual antique Hamadan rug with red field having an unusual grid-like design of serrated leaves and flower heads framed by a light blue border enclosing flower heads and serrated leaves at angles.

2. An antique Persian Senneh weaving with figural birds in each ivory spandrel bracketing the red field filled with side-by-side boteh. The design is unusual with its dash of green at each end of the red field. The weaving is framed by an ivory border with multicolor flower head repeat.

Senneh rugs originated in the city of Sanandaj (Senneh) in the Kurdistan region of Iran.

Hamadan measures 78 x 49 inches. Senneh is 77 x 51 inches.
