PERSIAN PRINCE Ceremonial Sword
Prince Mirza Mahmoud Khan Saghaphi personal dress sword, scabbard, cloth sword case and belt. A Prince of Persia, he served as a diplomat attache of the Persian Embassy in London, later he was sent to The Hague as his country's representative as the many pre WWI conferences held in the Dutch Capital. After the war he was sent to the US as Consul General of New York City to study the possibilities of establishing a Consulate. During that time he became a well-known and much sought after figure in New York social life. Saber measures 39" and is marked C. Mouwen and Zoon Hofleveranciers Breda. Ricasso has makers mark WKC from Solingen with king and knight logo. The grips are chipped and have some loss making them slightly loose. Blade edge has no dings or dents, blade is straight. Ornate scabbard has three gold sections with floral decorations. Photo of the prince with the sword included.
