PHILIP AND KELVIN LAVERNE
"BATHERS" SIDEBOARD

circa 1968
acid-etched brass, enameled and patinated brass over pewter and wood
signed KELVIN AND PHILIP LAVERNE
32½ x 59 x 15 in. (82.5 x 149.8 x 38.1 cm)

Condition Report:
Overall in excellent condition. When compared to the catalog illustration, sideboard displays a more shimmering array of honey-bronze tones and more detailed oxidation in tones of green and red. Brass surfaces present with very minor surface scratches concentrated to the top of the cabinet and consistent with age and gentle use. Areas of differently colored wear and oxidation are consistent with gentle use and the natural aging process of the patinated brass. The interior of cabinets with four shelves, two of which are adjustable, as well as two velvet lined drawers. A rare sideboard within the LaVernes' furniture designs that shows a wonderful narrative decorative motif for which they are widely recognized.
