Foster of the 384-ton whaling ship "Wilmington and Liverpool Packet" (homeport: New Bedford, MA, registered in 1815, condemned in 1845), having exposed dovetailed construction, lid with applied molded edge, iron lock escutcheon (with key) and "R. Foster" name plate below, carved and polychrome painted side brackets with star decoration, woven beckets, lid interior with painted decoration of a three-mast sailing ship flanked by British Empire flags, with lidded interior till, base edge molding, 16 1/4" high, 35 1/4" x 15 1/4". Surface wear.
