P.J. Mene, Bronze Grouping "Chasse au Lapin"

Item/Description: Bronze sculpture titled: "Trois Chiens Au Terrier, Chasse Au Lapin" (Three Dogs Ferreting). After PJ Mene. Signed P.J. Mene. Grouping of terrier dogs burrowing or ferreting out a hare or rabbit from a hole.
Mene was born on 25 March 1810 in Paris, France. As a teenager he worked for his father, a metal turner. By 1837 he was casting his bronze sculptures in his own foundry.

Material: Bronze, wood at underside of base.

Dimensions: Length: 14"; Width: 7 1/2"; Height: 8".

Condition: Oxidation, age, wear.

Age: 19th Century.
