POLANSKI ROMAN: (1933- ) French-born Polish Film Director, Academy Award winner. A.L.S., R Polanski, on one side of his personal printed slim oblong 8vo correspondence card, Gstaad, Switzerland, 20th April 2010, to Elisabeth Howard. Polanski thanks his correspondent for their very kind letter and comments, 'I hope the DVD of the ''Ghost'' will be out soon and that you'll like it', concluding 'And .thank you, I'm fine'. Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Polanski. EX £100-120 Polanski refers to his film The Ghost Writer (2010), a political thriller adapted from the novel The Ghost by Robert Harris. The film was a critical and commercial success, winning many awards. At the time of writing the present letter Polanski was under house arrest in Gstaad, awaiting decision of appeals fighting extradition, and a few months later, on 12th July 2010, the Swiss authorities rejected the requests from the United States of America and released the director from custody, declaring him a 'free man'.
