LIMITED EDITION, number J3 for presentation, from a total edition of 500 copies of the “Author’s Autograph Edition” SIGNED BY BYRD and the publisher. Issued with a portion of fabric mounted on the front pastedown (showing both sides) which covered the plane Josephine Ford on her historic flight over the North Pole on May 9th, 1926. PRESENTATION COPY, with an additional inscription on the frontispiece: “To my friend / Van Lea Black / the salt of the Earth / from / Dick Byrd / N.Y. City / Sept. 28, 1928”.
