PORTRAIT OF GEORGE WALKER
English, 18th-19th century. Oil on canvas portrait of George Walker (c.1645-1690), English soldier and Anglican priest. He was joint Governor of Londonderry during the Siege in 1689. He was killed at the Battle of Boyne and became a national hero. Painted by an unknown artist in oval gilt frame. James Ryman label to frame.

Condition Report: Canvas lightly loose to stretcher - stretcher marks, painting shows craquelure but stable, under UV light painting shows varnish, patch to verso center-under UV light the shadows to right of face (sitters left side) between hair and face shows green with less craquelure to this area Any condition statement is given as a courtesy to a client, is an opinion, and should not be treated as a statement of fact.
