According to the original consignor, this was purchased from the Vanderbilt family in Rhinebeck, New York. Oral history states the painting was of a young Consuelo Vanderbilt and was painted by the Italian artist Giovanni Boldini. This information was passed down in oral history with no supporting documentation.
