POST WWI SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / AJ SAVAGE SLIDE ON
COLT COMMERCIAL STYLE FRAME. Cal. 45 ACP. S# 55082. The slide on this pistol has been speculation in many reference material, where JC Harrison, Poyer & Clawson attribute these slides to the A. J. Savage Munitions Co.. Recent archival research brings up speculation that A. J. Savage never delivered any parts & these slides were produced by Springfield Armory. Frame with Colt "VP" proof on left side outside of normal Colt Commercial S# sequence. Springfield Armory Post WWI 5" barrel. Small parts appear to be mix of commercial parts & World War II Colt parts including Coltwood grips. MAGS: NONE. CONDITION: slide has fair fading brush blue with spots of brown patina, light pitting, scattered handling marks & edge wear. Frame has very good commercial blue with finish loss around grips. (26-4418/MD). MODERN. $2,500-3,500.
