A SILVER OPEN-FACED CALENDAR WATCH WITH 24-HOUR DIAL, MOON-PHASES, SUNRISE AND SUNSET
CIRCA 1790 NO. 1809

Movement: gilded full plate movement, cylinder escapement, pierced and engraved balance bridge, signed and numbered Poudra A Paris, No. 1809
Dial: white enamel, bottom section in black to indicate night time, Roman numerals, subsidiary dials for subsidiary seconds combined with moon-phases, day and date, fan-form aperture for sunrise and sunset
Case: silver, engine-turned, milled band, indistinct marks, numbered 5228

diameter 59mm

Condition Report:
Movement: fully wound but not running, calendar not advancing
Dial: multiple cracks to the left hand side, chips and cracks to the subsidiary seconds dial, damage to the sunrise and sunset plate. Hands loose
Case: tarnishing throughout, engine-turning in good condition

Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement and we do not guarantee the authenticity of any individual component parts since subsequent repairs and restoration work may have resulted in the replacement of original parts.
