PROBABLY SWISS, 18TH CENTURY
Sign in the Form of an Apple

copper, with a wrought iron stem, with traces of lacquer
probably from an inn sign (Wirtshausschild) 'zum goldenen Apfel'
45cm., 17¾in.

Condition Report:
Overall the condition of the copper apple is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are traces of an old lacquer to the copper surface which has mostly worn. There are some patches of wear to the underside. There are a few minor dents to the apple. The wrought iron is in good condition overall, with general wear. There are extensive remnants of green paint to the stem and leaves at the top and brown and green paint to the wrought iron at the underside. There are a few nicks and scratches to the wrought iron, in particular to the edges of the leaves. There is oxidation to the iron.
