2 volumes in one, 4to (214 x 152mm.), engraved vignette on title-pages, woodcut initials, head- and tailpieces, with blank leaf E4 at end of index, woodcut diagrams and illustrations, 27 full-page engraved maps of the ancient world, 36 full-page engraved maps of the modern world, blank leaf inserted after N8, later half vellum over patterned paper boards, morocco lettering-piece, blue edges, lacking double-page map, occasional light browning or foxing, E1 (with world map) probably supplied from another copy, small hole in text of I1, quire O and final leaves with some repairs and strengthening, small stain at head of last few leaves

This edition of Ptolemy is the first to contain the extensive commentary of Giovanni Antonio Magini, together with the new maps engraved by Girolamo Porro. The work is now divided into two, comparing Ptolemy's ancient world with Magini's modern one.
