Oil painting on canvas mounted on a wooden panel, with wooden frame and gilt plaster. Canvas size: 24 cm x 18 cm Frame size: 27 cm x 33 cm Artist: Stella Angelini (Cento 1922- Roma 1995) . It has the following inscription on the back: "Dalla rotonda Antonio Foschini (del teatro di Ferrara) un piccolo tratto della chiesa di san Carlo pittrice Angelini Stella via Bassanelli 25 Bologna 40125. . . " Condition: the pictorial part is in excellent condition, the frame has small chips and shortcomings In the 1950s, the Artist worked with the oil-on-canvas technique under the guidance of master Otello Mombelli. In the 1960s, she worked in Bologna where she had the Art Gallery “La Tavolozza” in Via dei Musei. Later she moved to Rome, where she remained until her death, working steadily and holding solo exhibitions in various locations. In 1972, the President of the Italian Republic, Giovanni Leone, honoured her with the medal of Knight of the Italian Republic for her work in the Shrine of the Marzabotto Massacre, consisting of two large frescoes in gold leaf and eight bronze sheet statues. She experimented with various techniques, including the painting on gold leaf, used in paintings for churches and private halls. Among her most important works, we should mention two altarpieces at the church of Ravenna, four bas-reliefs at the Church of S. Pietro in Vasto and a statue at the Sacrario del Caduto d’Oltremare, in Bari.
