Tamatori was an "Ama", a pearl diver. Tamatori fell in love with the lord of the fiefdom, became his concubine. Her beloved was called to restore the family's reputation, having to find the pearl of the tide that was lost. In the Japanese tradition, offering jewelry to the sea is a ritual that calms the divinity of the ocean, the powerful dragon. Tamatori helped her beloved. Once the Ryuji was distracted, Tamatori managed to take the jewel, but unfortunately it was discovered! The dragon attacked and mortally wounded her, but Tamatori was quick and clever enough to hide the pearl by cutting her chest and tucking it inside.
