A painting of religious origin, depicting St. John writing on the page of a manuscript: "Qui manet in carit. (ate) , in Deo manet". The Latin sentence, meaning “Whoever lives in love lives in God”, is found in the first letter of St. John (1 John 4) , it is traditionally attributed to St. John, Apostle and Evangelist and it is included in the books of the New Testament. Estimated period: second half of the 19th century. Louis Philippe frame in carved and gilt wood, in good condition. The oil painting on panel is also in good condition.
