Pair Allith-Prouty Cast Iron Rollers
This matching pair of heavy-duty cast iron barn door hangers is the Reliable No. 2 model produced in the United States. Each hanger is designed with an open diamond-shaped mounting plate containing three pre-drilled holes for secure attachment to a door. The mechanical assembly includes a large primary grooved roller at the base and a smaller vertical guide roller positioned mid-body, intended for use on a sliding track system. The reverse side of each casting features raised lettering that reads ALLITH-PROUTY CO, DANVILLE ILL, PATD NOV 19 1901, & DEC 8 1908, NO 2, and RELIABLE HANGER. A small mark reading ON is located centrally on the back. A red and white paper tag is attached to one unit with a white string, bearing the handwritten note Door Rollers 1883, which presents a chronological conflict with the cast patent dates from the early 20th century. Each hanger measures approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm) in total length.
