Pair Cassolettes à double usage - Napoleon III - Bronze, Ormolu & Carrara Marble - Mid 19th century
A very fine pair of attractive Carrara marble, ormolu and bronze cassolettes candlesticks completed in the Louis XVI style dating to circa 1860. The white carrara marble body in the form of an urn with mounted ormolu garlands, foliage swags and ram masks with a reversible marble top surmounted with an acorn finial. The reversible nature of the lid allows the top to be in the form of an urn lid or alternatively, a candlestick. The carrara urn rests on the zoomorphic legs ending in hoof feet upon a marble triform base. The pair are in overall very good condition with signs of usage commensurate with age and usage.
