LOT 0020

Pair Japanese Glass Faux Carnelian Scroll Weights

[ translate ]

A matched pair of scroll weights with colorful glass beads made to look like carnelian agate. A hint of gold shines through the green of the tassel tops. A very subtle show of richness.

A pair of glass beads have been crafted to look like swirled carnelian agate. These beads have been attached to a pair of green tassels by means of a green cord. At the top of each tassel is a gilded bead that is partially obscured by the cord, but still shows through. The ends above the beads have loops to be put around the bottom ends of scrolls to weigh them down and keep it flat. The weights are perfectly matched.

MEASUREMENTS
Entire eight measures 9 ¾Â” long
Stone measures 1 ½Â” (3.8 cm) long x 1” (2.5 cm) diameter. Weighs 3.2 oz (90 g)

CONDITION
One glass bead has a horseshoe shaped fracture in the glass and a small chip. It is hard to see because it looks very similar to a natural fault line in a natural agate. The other bead has a possible small round concussion mark. Again, they both look entire and like real carnelians. The cords has slight fading. They both look good for the age.

A rich looking old pair of scroll weights that are both useful and beautiful. The glass beads are artistically and expertly crafted to nearly perfectly mimic actual carnelians.

Please note, this lot will not ship until March 5th.
