Pair Louis XV period gilt bronze candlesticks, 18th c., France, finely cast and heavily gilt, each marked twice with the Couronne Poincon crowned "C" tax stamp of the period, with a leaf-cast and fluted nozzle on spiral pilaster- cast support held aloft by two cherubs, the baluster lower part cast with three fleurs-de-lis, on rocaille bases, 13"h x 7"dia (bronze), 19"h (total)

Provenance: A Private Collection: 710 Park Avenue, NYC; Sotheby's London, 24 June 1988, [lot 61]

Notes/Literature: The crowned C mark was a French tax mark used on every gilt bronze object manufactured between February 1745 and February 1749
Condition Report: Good, gilding well preserved with small spots of verdigris on crevices, wired externally and without drilling, can easily be converted back to candlesticks **Note: Condition reports are based on visual inspection under typical office lighting.
