Pair of Ancient tables / Large ceiling tiles (1) - Wood - probably XVII - XVIII century
Large antique panels Ceiling panels painted with a pair of profiles inside architectural structures surmounted by flames. In medieval and Renaissance iconography, male and female profiles inside flaming frames meant a married couple or two people in love. 17th / 18th century. "Figures of Nobles". Egg tempera on panel. Panel dimensions: 98 x 42 cm Lombardy / Area of Brescia and Cremona Very rare / in first patina. Restored and ready to be set In the small painted scenes of the ceilings of Brescia, an original dimension unfolds continuously in a galaxy of symbols, mirror of civilisations and epochs. It is, in fact, a trend of taste and style, to which most of the buildings of the period conform. The alternating wooden beam system showed high standards of stability and safety. Skilled carpenters and bricklayers made the structure. The panels, made separately in the workshop, were therefore arranged with skill in the appropriate joints. And this technical evolution is respected even in the homes of the Brescia area, as in other Lombard cities.
