Pair of Chinese Famille Rose Statues, Republic

[ translate ]

A pair of Chinese famille rose porcelain statues dating from the Republic period. The lot comes with a pair of wooden stands. Each depicts a mythical figure, possibly a Buddhist yaksha, riding an elephant. One of the figures holds a red-glazed branch resembling coral in their left hand, and the other figures holds a rock in his left hand.

Dimensions are: 9 1/2 inches tall X 7 inches wide, 24.1 cm X 17.8 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: The statue with the figure holding the coral has had one horn and one foot replaced and overpainted. The statue with the figure with the rock has an area of overpainting to one foot. Both stands have areas of separation. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece after its initial manufacture as diligently as possible; however, as stated in our terms, condition reports are statements of opinion and not representations or warranties. Oakridge Auction Gallery bears no responsibility for any error or omission.
