Pair of Chinese Ranking Badges, 19th Century
A pair of framed Chinese ranking badges dating from the 19th century. Both badges feature a quail facing the sun on the right, denoting it as a badge of the eighth civil rank. The quail stands on a rock among waves surrounded by flowers and bats. The whole embroidery is done in the forbidden stitch.
Dimensions are: 10 1/2 inches tall X 11 inches wide, 26.7 cm X 27.9 cm, while the frame measures 16 1/2 inches tall X 17 inches wide, 41.9 cm X 43.2 cm. All measurements are approximate.
Condition: Both badges are in overall good condition with minor pulled threads. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is.
