Pair of Chinese Tang Style Polychrome Horses

Pair of Chinese Tang style polychrome horses. 20th century. Carved wood and composition with polychromatic design, each horse raising one leg up. Wear and debris throughout surface and patina of both horses. Small chips and losses to wood on edges of bases of both horses. Splits and cracks to wood on legs of both horses. Repair to front left raised leg of one horse.
47" W x 13" D x 46" H. One horse is an inch and a half shorter than the other in width measuring at 45 1/2".
Provenance: Christie's Interiors, Lot 776, July 17th, 2012. From the collection of a prominent Connecticut family.
