Pair of Chinese Yellow Ground Fish Bowls, 1950/1960

[ translate ]

A pair of Chinese famille rose fish bowls dating from the 1950s to the 1960s. Each has a wooden stand. Both feature framed garden scenes with women. The scenes are set against a yellow ground with floral tracery. A stylized leaf band decorates the foot, and a ruyi band encircles the rim.

Dimensions are: 13 1/2 inches tall X 15 3/4 inches wide, 34.3 cm X 40 cm. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Both are in overall good condition. One fish bowl has a star crack to the interior. Both stands have areas of overpainting and repairs. A reminder that all lots are sold as-is. We have sought to record the changes in the condition of this piece after its initial manufacture as diligently as possible; however, as stated in our terms, condition reports are statements of opinion and not representations or warranties. Oakridge Auction Gallery bears no responsibility for any error or omission.

Provenance: From the private, premier collection of a gentleman in Cleveland, Ohio. The items in the collection were acquired starting in the 1970s from auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams, as well as from various private collections in the United States.
