Magnificent pair of Empire candlesticks in gilt bronze (ormolu) . They are in the shape of a Roman man and a woman, half draped in a toga. They are carrying an amphora from which escapes an arm of light in the shape of a natural rose branch. The pedestal column is decorated with masks and a frieze of palmettes. Work of exceptional quality with a beautiful original gilding of fine gold in matt and shiny, lively sculpture and finely chiseled by hand. Overall the set is in a good condition with original gilding. Some signs of wear are showing in the base part, commensurate with their age (see photos) . Beautiful set, very decorative in any luxury home as a fireplace garnish, on a console or to light up a festive table. High 35. 5cm, Base is 8x8cm.
