Pair of Georgian silver candlesticks
Pair of tall George III silver candlesticks, with slender baluster stems and urn shaped candle holders, on circular pedestal bases, with gadrooned borders and engraved monograms, separate sconces (Sheffield 1817, double struck duty marks) Nathaniel Smith. 31cm overall height.Condition Report General overall condition reasonably good, both have some surface wear, scratching and minor dents, both sticks have been repaired where the stems join the pedestal bases, one repair is better than the other, the decoration on the top and bottom knops of both sticks appear to have been resoldered and decoration partially filled, one stick leans slightly and the candle holder top is damaged, the other candle holder has been repaired where it joins the stem, engraved monograms on both slightly worn, both sconces slightly bent. Hallmarks slightly rubbed but legible. Additional photographs to follow.
