Pair of Handmade British Coin Art Pieces – Victorian & Edwar...
Pair of Handmade British Coin Art Pieces – Victorian & Edwardian An attractive pair of original handmade British coin jewellery pieces created from genuine circulating British coins during the late Victorian and early twentieth century. The first is a beautifully pierced 1897 Queen Victoria coin featuring the seated figure of Britannia, originally made as a brooch. The second is a pierced George V coin with the King’s portrait suspended within the original outer legend, intended as a pendant or charm. Known as “coin art” or “love token” style pieces, these handcrafted conversions were individually made rather than factory produced, making each one unique. Today they are collected as examples of British folk art, antique costume jewellery and unusual numismatic curios. Please note: the Queen Victoria brooch is missing its original pin, as shown in the photographs. It could be displayed as an interesting curio, worn as a pendant with a simple conversion, or sympathetically restored if desired. A charming and unusual pair with plenty of character, priced to be affordable
