Pair of Letters Signed by Manson Family Member Susan Atkins

ATKINS, Susan (1948-2009), also known as "Sadie Mae Glutz," was a member of the Manson Family and one of the participants in the notorious 1969 murders directed by Charles Manson. Born in California, Atkins joined Manson's group in 1967 and became one of his most devoted followers. She took part in the murders at the home of Sharon Tate and others on August 8-9, 1969. Her admissions to fellow inmates helped investigators break the case. Convicted of murder and initially sentenced to death, her sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. While incarcerated, Atkins claimed to have renounced Manson and embraced Christianity. She remained in prison until her death from brain cancer in 2009. Pair of Typed Letters Signed "Susan", includes: Two page TLS, August 24, 1993, with envelope addressed Kregg Sanders, with prayer card, and reads in part: "...If I could type letters all day long, I don't think I'd be able to answer them all…In answer to your first question regarding Patricia & Leslie; I do see them both on occasion, and though we are not what anyone would refer to as 'close', we are each cordial to the other…Charles Watson is indeed a Christian, and he and his wife, Kristene have a ministry that reaches many people…" Fine condition…plus; TLS on her letterhead, 3pp quarto, October 11, 1993, and reads in part: "...It's so sad that there are still a few who seem to hold onto some warped sense of devotion to 'what's his name'. My heart certainly aches for them, that they've not managed to get their own lives back…" Both fine condition.
