Pair of Miniature Cypriot Pottery Skyphoi

**First Time At Auction**

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Late Cypriot III, ca. 1200 to 1050 BCE. An incredibly tiny set of two wheel-thrown pottery skyphoi (singular skyphos) with circular bases, inverted bell-shaped bodies, and a pair of petite handles projecting from the thin rims. The cream-slipped vessels are decorated with wide red bands around the bodies, and the larger skyphos displays traces of original black pigment beneath the rim. A fabulous pair of miniature vessels! Size: 2.5" W x 1.1" H (6.4 cm x 2.8 cm).

Provenance: ex-estate of Roy Green, Birmingham, Alabama acquired before 2015 from major New York galleries

Condition Report: Larger vessel has repair and restoration to area of rim, and both vessels have restoration to handles, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Both vessels have minor abrasions and fading to original pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout.
