Pair of Roman Silver Earrings - Wearable!

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. A lovely pair of silver hoop earrings, each comprised of 3 tubes that taper at the ends and fit with a modern sterling silver wire hook to be wearable. Similar in form, each displays a pair of smooth tubes that lie parallel to one another and meet at their pointed ends, while a third band, featuring a series of horizontal striations and spiral finials, lines the exterior of each hoop. Size without hook (both about the same): 0.8" Diameter (2 cm); with hook: 1.4" H (3.6 cm); silver quality: 95.4%; total weight: 14 grams

Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection, acquired 1990s
