third quarter 19th century, in the "Henry Clay" pattern, each with a thinly laminated concave back with a deeply carved leaf-and-fruit crest centered by a rose, with serpentine seat and cabriole legs, now upholstered in tufted floral brocade.

Provenance: The Estate of Donald J. Hurst, Waterloo, Iowa.
Condition Report: In very good refinished and restored condition. Tight and sturdy. Some normal flakes and abrasions to the edges of carved surfaces. No tack holes on one chair; five small, minor ones on the back of the other. Upholstery in very good, approaching excellent, condition.
