Pair of Vintage Twin Size Beds
Pair of Vintage Twin Size Beds
19th century turned figured cherry posts with shaped panel pine head and footboards, with pine rails.
Headboard 45 x 42.5 in.
This lot is accompanied by a 1974 Courier-Times newspaper article about Waverly Plantation in Cunningham, NC, from where these beds originate. It is of note that Thomas Day built some of the architectural details and furnishings for the house; the verbal family history is that these beds were also purchased from the Thomas Day cabinet shop in Milton, North Carolina; however, there are no documents or examples to support that claim.
Additional high-resolution photos are available at www.lelandlittle.com
Condition Report: The posts appear to be old and original; however, the panels and rails are later; rubbing to the edges of the shaped panels; lacking bolts.
