Published in Paris by Robert Estienne in 1549. Small-folio size (26 x 17. 5 cm) . Bound in a 19th century half-leather binding. 199 pages. Beautiful printer's vignette in woodcut on the title page and 10 portraits in woodcut, attributed to Jacquemin Woeiriot.
The extremely rare first edition.
Fairly good condition. Spine damaged and loose on one side (but still present) . Interior reasonable. Paper slightly browned and slightly dirty. Various old manuscript annotations, both on the title page and in the book. Some stains, especially in the margins. Some minor damage to the margin in the top left corner.
