Paperweight - Marble, various hardstones - Mid 19th century
A fantastic "Grand Tour" paperweight in black marble inlaid with a variety of colorful semi-precious hardstones such as tiger's eye, lapis lazuli, amethyst, coquina jasper, red jasper etc . . The specimen stones were most likely collected in Italy during the "Grand Tour" of an english gentleman and then mounted in black marble upon his return in England during the Victorian era . Note: this paperweight is the last piece from a small collection of paperweights that we have sold through Catawiki in the past few months. Mid-19th century. Dimensions: L 20cm x W 11. 4cm ; H 1. 8cm
