Papua New Guinea Lower Sepik Clan Mask
A Papua New Guinea Lower Sepik River Murik Lakes clan mask carved wood with applied cassowary feathers, split bamboo, and natural fiber sennett ties through the nose, along the edge bridge of the nose between the eyes, with slanted eye slits, long downward facing nose, small grinning mouth, spiral carved patterns on the forehead, representing a clan spirit ancestor, made to be displayed in the Men's house. Mask was acquired in the Mambel village in the early 90's but is is much older.
