The central design consists of a radiating fan or wedge-shaped motif, constructed from numerous narrow rectangular strips of fabric, commonly referred to as string quilting. This central section is set into a background of larger, irregularly shaped patchwork pieces, including gingham, polka dot, floral calico, and geometric prints. The fabrics are characteristic of the 1930s through 1950s.
