Patek Philippe Genève, "Nautilus Jumbo", Movement No. 1306844, Case No. 538617, Ref. 3700/1, Cal. 28-255C aut., 42 x 44 mm, circa 1980 "Full Set" - A legendary automatic vintage Geneva wristwatch with date, sold in June 1980. With original cork box, red Patek Philippe imitation leather briefcase, original certificate and original operating instructions Case: steel, screwed on bezel, Patek Philippe steel bracelet, bracelet length 145 mm, total length 180 mm. Dial: black, bar-like texture. This Nautilus Jumbo reference 3700/1 in the highly coveted steel case comes from the original owner and with all its accessories it is the first time that such a magnificent "full set" is presented at an auction. The sophisticated "porthole" design by Gerald Genta ensures that the Nautilus remains one of the most remarkable and sought-after models of the Patek Philippe range today. The watch was created in 1976 and its rather chunky shape - inspired by the shape of a porthole of a transatlantic liner certainly stood out from the other, rather more conservative designs of the Patek Philippe brand. The distinctive "Jumbo" case has a wide, flat bezel and an integrated bracelet. The black ribbing of the dial is repeated on the applied indexes and the baton hands. Early on the Nautilus was not a sales success but its popularity grew extremely fast and soon the Nautilus stood for sophistication, vitality and character. Case: very good. Dial: very good, later original. Movm.: very good, capable of running, cleaning recommended.
