Condition Report:
Case: Case in good overall condition with signs of previous polish in our view. Some small nicks throughout. Service crown.

Dial: Dial with surface wear and spots consistent with age. Signature is raised indicating signs of previous cleaning. Indexes and hands with some signs of wear and patina.

Movement: The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note:
The Reference 2440 is incredibly rare, and one of the most creative early large form watches made by Patek Philippe. The model was nicknamed ‘Clubs’ by collectors for its strong double fluted lugs. From our research approximately 80 were produced in yellow gold with less than 10 known to have returned to market.

See Huber, M. & Banbery, A., Patek Philippe Wristwatches, Second Edition, p. 136 & 160.
