Condition Report:
Case: The case is in overall very good condition with some minor surface wear to the lugs. The rubber strap has never been cut. The folding clasp with some minor surface scuffing.

Dial: The dial is in overall excellent condition.

Movement: The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.

Catalogue Note:
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Aquanaut, Patek Philippe released the reference 5167 in 2007 as a significant upgrade of the collection. Featuring a stainless steel case measuring 40.8 mm, a new dial was fitted with a defined pattern, the 3 o'clock hour marker was removed to allow more space for the date aperture, and an enhanced rubber strap was fitted.

Launched at the same time, the 5165 was released in a 38.8 mm case and was effectively the direct replacement for its predecessor, the reference 5065A. It is important to note that the 5165 only lasted five years in the catalogue before being discontinued. Yet, its slightly larger sibling, the 5167, still maintains its position in the current collection.
