Catalogue Note:
Created to celebrate Patek Philippe’s 175th Anniversary in 2014, the reference 5275P is widely regarded as one of the most important commemorative wristwatches ever produced by the manufacture. Limited to just 175 examples and developed over four years, it introduced an entirely new calibre featuring four patented innovations, including an ingenious system allowing the hours, minutes and seconds to jump instantaneously in perfect synchronization. The model also marked the return of an hour-striking clockwatch mechanism to a Patek Philippe wristwatch, recalling the rare bespoke pieces made for James Ward Packard nearly a century earlier.

The present example perfectly illustrates why the reference has become one of the most sought-after modern Patek Philippe limited editions. Available only by invitation and reserved for a select group of the manufacture’s most valued clients, the 5275P was never offered through traditional commercial channels. Combining exceptional technical innovation with extraordinary craftsmanship, the watch is distinguished by its hand-engraved platinum case, beautifully decorated dial and highly complex hour-striking movement. More than a celebration piece, the reference represents a rare moment when artistic expression and watchmaking ingenuity were brought together without compromise. So tightly held by collectors are these watches that examples seldom appear at auction, making each public offering a notable event.

Fresh to the market and preserved in very good condition, the present watch is accompanied by its original Certificate of Origin, Attestation, commemorative medal, presentation box, leather accessories and related literature. Combining outstanding rarity, historical significance and one of the most innovative anniversary movements ever developed by Patek Philippe, the reference 5275P represents a landmark achievement in 21st-century haute horlogerie and an exceptional opportunity for the discerning collector.
