Catalogue Note:
A highly original creation, the Reference 5275 unites a jumping hour in an aperture, an hour strike in passing, a jumping minute and a jumping second in an engraved tonneau-shaped platinum case. This grand ballet of sight and sound is produced in a limited edition of 175 watches and was one of six new references released by the Maison in celebration of their milestone.

For its 150th anniversary, Patek Philippe included among its commemorative timepieces a tonneau-shaped wristwatch with a jumping hour in an aperture and center minutes. This piece, the Reference 3969, has become a coveted collector's item, especially since this type of complication, originally produced in the 1920s, is no longer available in the manufacturer's regular collection. For its 175th celebration, Patek Philippe has continued its tradition of exclusive models by developing the Jump Hour Reference 5275, whose movement and appearance unite haute horlogerie and rare handcrafts. In addition, the tonneau-shaped polished platinum case is hand engraved as is the 18k solid gold dial, with embossed floral decoration. The case back is in solid platinum with engraving reading: "PATEK PHILIPPE GENEVE 175e Anniversaire 1839 - 2014."

The exceptional caliber 32-650 HGS PS is made of 438 parts and features an exclusive striking mechanism that makes the Reference 5275 a delight for the ear as well as the eye. At the top of each hour, a hammer strikes a single blow on a gong, in perfect synchrony with the instantaneous jump in the hour aperture. This completely new function recalls Patek Philippe's unparalleled mastery in the field of striking watches. The sound indication may be deactivated at will, using the small slide at 10 o'clock. A patented lifting lever secures the system against accidental mishandling. In fact, the reference featured 4 new patents –

Isolation of Hour Strike Mechanism for “Turning Off” the Chime
Jumping Mechanism with Coaxial Wheels for the Jumping Seconds
Jumping Mechanism with Coaxial Wheels for the Hour Function
Mechanism for Synchronizing Two Jumping Indications for synchronizing the seconds and minute hands.

Presented service sealed having recently returned from Patek Philippe in Geneva, this highly sought after reference could very well be the top piece in any serious collection, for its extremely small production quantity and its historical significance.
