Catalogue Note:
Introduced in 1934, reference 130 holds an important place in Patek Philippe’s history as the manufacture’s first serially produced chronograph wristwatch. Its elegant proportions, elongated lugs and distinctive rectangular pushers established a design that would define Patek Philippe chronographs for decades to come.

The present example was made in 1939 and sold on 6 April 1940. Its silvered dial is beautifully symmetrical, with two balanced subsidiary counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, framed by applied yellow gold Roman numerals at 6 and 12, dot indexes and an outer tachymeter scale. The long “Patek Philippe & Co Genève” signature completes this elegant early configuration.

At its heart is the manually wound calibre 13 130, one of Patek Philippe’s most celebrated vintage chronograph movements. Of further interest, the case bears the French owl import hallmark, indicating that the watch was imported into and assayed in France, adding another detail to its early history.

Accompanied by its Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, service documentation and Beyer Archive Extract, the present watch is a classic example of one of Patek Philippe’s most important early chronographs.
