Patek Phillipe World Time wristwatch, gold, men, provenance documents and original box, rose gold 18 k, d=39,5 mm, 174 g (gross) / Men's rose gold Patek Phillipe World Time wristwatch, reference 5130/1R-001, automatic movement. Guilloché technique decorated dial, Arabic numerals, display with 24 time zones, 24 world cities and day/night indicator. Original rose gold bracelet and deployant type closure.
The story of the Patek Philippe World Time model is undoubtedly linked to Louis Cottier. The son of a watchmaker, Cottier gained his fame as a watchmaker for having developed mechanisms indicating the time for the 24 time zones on one dial. Since 1930, Cottier has made such watches for prestigious clients, including Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Rolex. More recently (in 2000 precisely), the launch of Patek Philippe reference 5110 marked a rebirth for World Time watches. The 5110 model was replaced in 2006 by the 5130, then replaced today by the reference model 5230. The watch's popularity can easily be attributed to the case's modern 39.5 mm size, which was improved from the original 37 mm diameter of the 5110 reference. The central guilloché was also replaced by a ”sunray” pattern central decor and applied hour markings. This model is no longer in production in Patek Philippe workshops. The watch comes accompanied by the sole owner's provenance documents, the instruction manual and original box. These specifications make this item of exceptional importance for international watch collectors.
