Patricia Nix b.1938 Folk Art Kitsch Diorama Plaque

Patricia Nix (American, born 1938). A mixed media wall plaque mosaic diorama. Composite wood with applied glass plaques and other elements, including: Bronze ribbon, scrolling, and floral form repousse at summit; a circular porthole style form to top with calendar date 1901, and filled with loose fresh water pearls; and an image of a child presented beneath a heart shaped glass form, with French language notation above image "Garcon A Vendre" ("Boy for Sale"). Applied burn match sticks to the side, with melted wax framing center. Cloth and metallic ribbon at bottom centered with a gilt metal woman's face relief. Artist signed and dated 2010 on verso, with personal note "To Oren with love, Patricia Nix". The artist's work is held in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Dimensions: 12 X 7 X 1 in.

Condition: Good overall condition having moderate age related surface wear and patina. Estate fresh to the market.
